How is the volume of G2G questions?

Last week I mentioned how surname-related questions are now appearing on surname pages. http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/1926/have-seen-that-g2g-questions-now-appear-surname-index-pages

Today we took the next step: Inviting people viewing a surname page to ask a question related to the surname. This automatically takes them to G2G with the surname filled in.

For an example, see http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/HOLMES

I want to watch closely and see how this affects of the volume of G2G questions. Will we get too many?

So far I've been amazed at how generous WikiTreers have been with helping strangers with their brick walls. We don't want to overwhelm our community, i.e. have too many newbies asking questions and too few more experienced genealogists helping answer them.

Keep me posted here about whether you see a difference.

I hope that this will grow the community on both sides, and we can then take the next step: inviting people viewing profiles pages to ask questions about the person.

Thanks!

Chris

I like the new color separation on the surname index pages. Miss the graphics, but I was probably hogging up the space there anyway. Great updates to the program. Thanks, Mike

Thanks for all the improvements and tweaks you and the W/T team keep adding!  Great stuff!
We just took the next step: Questions about a particular profile (if there are any) appear at the top right of a profile page. In the Comments section, there's an "Ask a Question about X" link.

Hopefully this won't flood us with new questions. Growth is good, but I don't want to overwhelm G2G.
