Is it Robertson, Robinson, Robison or Robeson

Allen Robertson, Robinson, Robison, Robeson came to America from Ireland sometime around 1800. I have found his last name spelled all four ways. My question is how should it be spelled? Or how was it spelled in Ireland?

My best answer is "Yes." I have found all four spellings for all of the family members for many generations.

I would suggest you use Robertson unless you have a reason to do otherwise and put all three other options in "other names used", each sedated by a comma.

Just my opinion.
Sir William, your typo made my day. Now I know why I, myself, make typos--too many commas--chuckle!

I've found all 4 ways too for the name. There have been some of my Ancestors who changed the spelling so others could pronounce it correctly. Other time we have to take in to consideration when the name was used. If it was for a census and it's January in Minnesota and the door got opened a couple inches to talk to the Census Taker, maybe it was not to clear what was said. Then again maybe the Census Taker just wrote down what they thought they heard.

I know that the Census Taker, County Clerk spelled the name how it sounded to them at the time. I just thought it might be spelled a certain way in Ireland?  Thanks to everyone for their answers.

There are a lot of different spellings for these families - including Robberson, Roberts and Robbins. I believe the actual spelling depends on whether you trace back to the Robertson of Scotland's Duncan clan or to the Robison's of the Gunni clan.
