different middle names

I have a woman whose birth middle name is Ellen, her marriage middle name is Eleanor, and her death middle name is Helen.

I have placed all three names in the middle name field, but I'm pretty sure that's not appropriate.(There's no provision for a.k.a. for middle names).

Should I use the birth middle name only, and make a note of the of the others in the Biography?

Hi David, I saw your question about the middle name for Alice and I also noticed you are the profile manager for her children, and siblings. I was hoping and wondering  if you would adopt her too to make the family complete.

Also to answer your question,  if it was me, I would use her "birth" middle name and put the others in her biography section. Then the profile name wouldn't be soooo long!!!

Thanks, Dorothy, I have now used the birth middle name, and placed an appropriate comment in the Bio.

As far as your suggestion of adopting the profile, as I am not related I won't be doing this.

If I adopted all the profiles I have entered, my burgeoning watch list would be unmanageable!

Thanks Frank.

You are correct - she was buried in Balaklava General cemetery (South Australia) in 1938, with her birth middle name "Ellen".

My grandmother had a similar middle name (Helena) with many variables.

This is how I addressed this in her biography:  ".... During her life she was variously known as Anna Helena, Annie Helena, Annie Helean, Annie E. Knowles, Annie Eleanor and Aunty Lena. ..."

(The "middle name" data field shows only the birth name of Helena.)

I agree with Dorothy's answer for different names used at different times, or for name variations on the middle name.

I have not yet created a profile for my third cousin once removed - Theresa Catherine Wilhemina Caroline Koch, as per her baptismal record.  And she was married twice, so she'll have a current last name and an AKA name. I intend to explain in the bio that she really had 3 middle names.  Watch for her future profile as Theresa Catherine Wilhemina Caroline Ackerman formerly Koch aka Bruzgulis - I guess I'll also be testing the limits of WikiTree's name length!
