Has anyone tried to host a local meetup for WikiTree?

I think it would be cool to have a meetup for people who use WikiTree or who might be interested. Have you tried something like this?

Great question, Sandi!

A bunch of us are meeting up in two days at RootsTech in Salt Lake City.

Sadly, not all of us can get to RootsTech in Utah so this is an amazing idea Sandi.

I'll be very interested in hearing from others regarding this idea!

When I first saw the subject line, I assumed that you were talking about Meetup.com. I used to be very active there.

But sure, if anybody ever plans anything for the Niagara/Buffalo area, give me a holler.

Hi Greg, I'm still thinking about starting a meetup in Virginia.

I was looking through my old answers to find something that I had written a few years ago that I thought might be appropriate in a current thread, when I stumbled across this old thread.

I still think it applies. Sure, there are big conferences like RootsTech, but not everybody has money for things like hotels, plane fare, etc. So I still think that local get-togethers for genealogists who live near one another could be fun and helpful. (Maybe pick a coffee shop right near a cemetery, library, archive, or something similar? wink)

Meet with other people?? So you mean that I would actually have to leave my room?
