Does anyone have any information on Joshua Blanton Sr. (Blanton-638)? I know he was born April 2, 1854 in Kentucky. He married Elmira Fannin on June 15, 1883 in Carter County, Kentucky. He died August 2, 1915 in Oklahoma. His son Edward is my great-grandfather. I'm looking for his parents. Can anyone help?

When you use familysearch never take transcribed records for granted and sometimes the more information you add the less results you get. I always start with the minimum.

The birth certificate you have for Edward does contain an important piece of info; the birth county in Kentucky of Joshua-Magoffin County.

Years of birth on Censuses can go a few years either way sometimes as much as 10 as you'll see later but;

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZ19-Z5V most people had two names and they used either one or both on subsequent Censuses.

On the 1910 Census, Joshua says he is 65, he has been remarried for 1 year, the 3 boys are still with him and their still in Hogan, Franklin County, Arkansas. https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MKJR-BMR

these are the Magoffin County Blanton's. the top one is an interesting chap and this is likely Josh snr father

Joshua Jr later married Lillie Mae Mackey

Thank you. Unfortunately, that connection has already proved apocryphal. That Joshua Blanton was born in Estill County and married Abby Jane Larrison, while my great-grandfather was born in Carter County and married Elmira Fannin. Their marriage dates overlap so it's unfortunately impossible to be the same person. :-(

Another child that Joshua and Elmira had;

and this is the same area as the ubove birth and where Joshua would have worked
