no not 100% I know he was married in bibb county Alabama in 1877 and lived there in 1880. his wife remarried so im assuming he died or divorced. I seen something saying he died in 1898 but idk for sure

Thanks that narrows me down to 3 now. Jackson, Tallapoosa, and Shelby. the census for 1880 above is my family but knowing which one of the 1870s is him is the tough part. I appreciate the help

I will check these out but I think these  would be right due to my ggggrandad being born in 1852 he married Herriet Cornelia Griffin in 1877 but these could maybe be his dad with 2nd marriage

the above 1880 census in Six Mile Bibb Alabama is for sure him but I have no clue where he is before that. the 1880 census says his mom and dad are from Alabama and that's leaves me blank. Does anyone have info on a William Grant and Mary Grant born in Georgia around 1845 and 1846. I see a William Barnes living with them in 1870 who fits the time frame

Does anyone have any info on Calvin Barnes born 1830 alabama, he married Nancy Davis in 1850 bibb county. I see they have a son named William Barnes born the right time and place. i got a dna kit done but man this is still tough stuff. Looks like calvin moved to texas and died in 1871 but William hopefully stayed and married Cornelia Griffin is 1877 bibb county . please tell me this is right

man i really appreciate that. i really think this is my family but i dont have 100 percent concrete yet. i did find a dna match on ancestry that led me to this william though. right place at the right time and i am dna related. how can i prove this is the right one? if i could then this line has proof back to a a Honorbale Meredith Barnes who was born in 1777 scotland and traveled here and died in 1818 in Alabama
