If Gasper Roland emigrated from the Rheinland or Switzerland, How Can He Descend from a Jamestown Settler?

So I was virtually poking around Jamestown here and found that German Dunker immigrant Gasper Roland has been connected to the line of John Rowland-808, who was English and emigrated earlier to Jamestown. Looks like a problem to me, unless John's descendent went back to Europe, became German, and the family emigrated twice.

I think best bet is to disconnect him from the parents... I don’t see anything in the biographies to support John & Esther as his parents.
I'm going to cut the cords, then. I hope no one is upset about losing their Jamestown connection. =:o
I think the problem may be closer to Rowland-808 than Gasper. No source, but something tells me I need to know more about Esther Falla.
I laid my doubts to rest. The folks are PPP, so someone else needs to disconnect the parents.

Thanks!   ~Sandi
Sandi - I posted notes on Gasper's profile & the profiles attached as his parents... then realized you're the only PM for John and Ether. If I don't hear anything from the PMs of Gasper's profile, I'll disconnect them tomorrow. Cheers, Liz
Gaspar Rowland's grandson, John Rowland Jr. married Rebecca Doane in Harrison County, KY in 1801. Rebecca is descended from Stephen Hopkins, who was a Jamestowne colonist (1609-c 1617) and a Mayflower pilgrim (1620). I am a descendant of all of them and am a member of the Jamestowne Society. I have a Mayflower Society application in review.

John and Rebecca met in the Yadkin River valley before they all moved to Kentucky with Daniel Boone through the Cumberland Gap. Rebecca's family, the Doane's moved to Rowan County, NC from the Fear River area of Wilmington, NC. Her father, Hezekiah Doane III, is descended from the Doane's of Massachusetts. This line is documented in the Mayflower Silver Book for Stephen Hopkins. (The Mayflower Society sells these books online or you can sometimes pick up a used copy on EBAY or Amazon.)

Please email me if you have any questions. I'll try to help.
Hi Terry,

This question was resolved back in in 2018. The John in question was already disconnected from Gasper Roland-19.

All things are possible on the internet :)

Yes, but not all things remain possible on WikiTree.
So what's the story?  10 year old Christopher married newborn baby Ann in 1690.  9 years later they're in London having John.  They return to Virginia and have another John 28 years later.  But the first John fetches up in Germany marrying Esther and having an Amish son and a Catholic daughter.  Daytime soaps should use these plotlines.

Forgiveness and patience please, I am a brand new member to WikiTree, just joined yesterday and still trying to get the hang of things. Gasper/Casper Rowland/Roland is my 6th great grandfather, I think.  I just found out about him only last week, so my research is just beginning. However, I've been able to capture a plethora of info on him from this site, so thank you for everything so far.

Welcome to WikiTree, Debby! You will probably find that you have lots of cousins related to this profile.  As a matter of fact there are several with their DNA lines populating up the tree to him.  One thing you might note is that Gasper Roland's profile is project-protected,  so before makjng significant changes you will need to collaborate with others, particularly with the profile manager.  That is one of the uses of g2g...to collaborate with others regarding changes to certain profiles. Cheers and good luck on your research.

There WERE German-speakers who emigrated with the Jamestown Fleet.  The German Embassy in Washington commemorated their arrival in 2017.  I cannot tell you more about them, but they were there.

(Germans got around in those days.  There were even Germans in Magellan's first round the world voyage in 1521, and at least one of them survived to be the first German to sail round the world!)
