Kenegy in Cornwall, England

Medieval transcriptions indicate Alan Kenegy and Thomas Kennegy existed in Cornwall (UK) between 1248 and 1395.  But ship lists, wills, family histories and DNA links to living relatives go back only to Gnaegi 250 years later in rural Switzerland (1640s).  Although this could be a coincidence of pronunciation, it opens the possibility that the Swiss Gnaegi line could have come from Cornwall.

Looking for advice to pursue documents or DNA that could help in the search.

Additionally, there are gedcoms on ancestry.com suggesting Norwegian origin (prior to Gnaegi in Switzerland).  Evidence for/against this would be helpful.
