Madonna, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Vincent Piazza (not the Wikitreer, the one from Boardwalk Empire), Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Sophia Loren and Liza Minnelli are a few more.....
Thanks, Vincent Piazza!
And while we are adding {{Italian Roots}} to the profiles of these entertainers, we can add the same template to their Italian relatives :)
Thank you Sharon!
Singer Jerry Vale,  Comedian Joey Bishop,  Singer Tony Bennett, actress Gina Lollabrigida, Dean Martin,  Paul Anka,  Fabian,
Thanks, G. Herr! Have you made profiles for these Italian entertainers?

Also Marconi-13 should definitely be added.

Thanks, Jim Tareco!

Wow, Henry Mancini and Harry Belafonte too! Who wants  to add all these people? That wikipedia article is awesome!

You're welcome! Although not an entertainer, Enrico Fermi is a must.

And Gugliemo Marconi  (not an entertainer, but without him perhaps a whole range of entertainers would not have had an outlet)

I was wondering what his name was. I added the Italian Roots to some regular Marconi's instead so we can find the name.

BTW, I also added a Table of Contents because the Italian Roots project is growing so fast we need a second page :)
Enrico Fermi has been added to {{Italian Roots}}
Marconi-13 has been added to {{Italian Roots}}
Many of these entertainers already have profiles under the Notables project and so would only need to have {{Italian Roots}} added to the existing record.
Good news, Michele, Please help us add the {{Italian Roots}} template to as many of these Italians as possible! Thanks!

Sadly, it doesn't seem that Harry Belafonte is of Italian roots. Acc toWiki (which quotes Harry himself)

Belafonte was born Harold George Bellanfanti, Jr.[5] at Lying-in Hospital on March 1, 1927, in Harlem, New York, the son of Melvine (née Love), a housekeeper of Jamaican descent, and Harold George Bellanfanti, Sr., a Martiniquan who worked as a chef.His mother was born in Jamaica, the child of a Scottish white mother and a black father. His father also was born in Jamaica, the child of a black mother and Dutch Jewish father of Sephardi origins. This is all Harry says about his Jewish grandfather, whom he never met: “a white Dutch Jew who drifted over to the islands after chasing gold and diamonds, with no luck at all”.

I would think that the name was more likely to be Spanish in origin, due to Spain's historical takeover of Holland in the late 16th C.

Hi Sharon, is there a link to the Italian Roots Project page?  I would be interested to see it
answered by Leigh Murrin G2G6 Mach 5 (55.4k points)
Type {{Italian Roots}} on any profile and it will link to the Italian Roots category and project. Plus you get a cool template :)
Just so you know, it's a free-space project, not yet an official project.  To gain official status we'll need more people to get involved, so please do!

You can find the project here:

I added {{Italian Roots}} templates for Frank Capra, and for Perry Como and his relatives. Who wants to help add more Italians?
answered by Sharon Centanne G2G6 Pilot (140k points)
I also just added a profile for Jim Croce and gave him the Notables and Italian Roots templates.
I just noticed a glaring oversight to this Wikipedia list, especially for us Italians from WNY. Chuck Mangione is not there!
A Rochesterian, to boot!
Neither is Connie Francis, whom I added along with her parents and brother.

Walter Chiari. Great actor and connected to Australia by his starring in the seminal Aussie film They're a Weird Mob in the 1960s. My mum just happened to be on the staircase of the theatre for the premiere when he came out, and she had her photo taken with him. Wish I could find it. It was great.
