Name Spelling

I notice in this profile you have some of his siblings spelt Riddell that is incorrect

All  the Riddle s that came to New Zealand are spelt Riddle and their siblings and relatives back in Scotland are spelt the same. Some officials misspelt the names on shipping documents etc and Govt documents and that has started a raft of misspelt names which is creating a different family

So if you could please correct

Let me suggest that you read section 2.1, 2.2 and 2.3 of Wikitree's naming conventions, which may explain why Riddell was used. If there are no birth documents available for a person, it is possible that the profiles were created using the spellings on those emigration documents. What should happen is that all the folks that you're talking about should have Riddle or Riddell in the other last names field so that when searching for the one, they both get found.

Be sure to include the alternative spelling(s) in the Other Last Names data field.

This is a common thing to happen my great Grandmothers family have ended up with 4 ways of spelling their last name, this also happens with dates such as birth, as my grandfather x 2 on census records was born between 1840 and 5o
