I have been trying to trace the family of an Edward Brothers who was born in Nansemond, Virginia around 1858. Edward had a son, Richard Brothers who was born in North Carolina before he showed up on the 1860 0r 1870 Cooke County, Texas census. One of Edward's many sons was Thomas Brothers, possibly with the middle name of William. This particular Thomas Brothers was my great-grandfather. This Thomas Brothers also attended the University of Oklahoma in the late 1800's according to family stories handed down to me.
Thomas Brothers had two sons at least, a John Wilburn Brothers (my grandfather) and Charley Brothers (my great-uncle). John Wilburn Brothers married Georgia Bittle and they had four children: John Wilburn Brothers (my uncle), Bettie Brothers (my aunt), Clytia Brothers (my aunt, spelling might not be correct on her name) and Thomas Bittle Brothers (my dad, also a Sr.) who was born in Mobeetie, Texas December 14, 1931.
Charley Brothers married a gal with the first name of Fannie and they had a son, James Brothers who owned a lumberyard in Shamrock, Texas (visited the lumberyard as a little kid). James Brothers had two sons, Charlie Brothers (Air Force lawyer who taught at the Air Force Academy when my brother, Thomas Bittle Brothers, Jr. was a cadet there) and James Brothers (a dentist who worked in McKinney, Texas where my sister Pamela Jean Brothers, had an appointment with him once for some dental work). Any info you have is appreciated. This John Brothers might be one of my ancestors.
