I have a gedcom file (Myfamily.com) that has extension .html and won't upload - any ideas?

The gedcom file was created by a cousin of mine who died a few years ago.  When Myfamily.com was closing its site, I was able to download the file.  It is a series of numbers 2723824 with an _ged.html.

Is there any way it can be uploaded?

Thank you.

.html is an internet page. You need a file that has .ged
Hi Denise

I'm hoping this link will work [http://genealogy.about.com/od/family_tree_software/qt/How-To-Create-A-Gedcom-File.htm] explains how to use gedcom files.  The end .html - is a browser.

This other link might be better [http://genealogy.about.com/od/family_tree_software/a/Genealogy-Gedcom_3.htm]  Sorry I'm not particularly computer literate.

Hoping someone will come along and help.

Two possibilities I can think of.  First, sometimes files get endings put on automatically which make them unusable... in which case you can try just getting rid of the .html and adding a .ged.  The second possibility is to look at the raw data under the file. You may have to use wordpad or something like that.  It may or may not give you the data you need, albeit, you may have to clean it up to make it work like a .ged.
