Italian Pulse - Italian Roots update - March 5, 2016

February was a big month for the Italian Roots free space project!   We're certainly gaining momentum.

We've had several active new members, a kind wikitree leader has provided us with a template and we've been tagging profiles into the italian roots category with it - as well as notable profiles with Italian heritage.  (The template adds the [[Italian Roots]] category and includes a box that indicates Italian Heritage.)

Adding the new Italian Roots template is simple, just insert the following into a profile's text section:

{{Italian Roots}}

What next?  How can we maintain the momentum?

We need to broaden involvement in the project - so if you have been putting off that Italian Name or Place Study, or been hesitant to sign on to the project, Spring is almost here and it is time to get the house in order.  Tag your Italian surname's by adding the new template; add italian_roots to your followed G2G tags; and step up by joining the steering committee.

How can you join the steering committee? - Simple - just express your willingness to us.  We'e got a Google+ community, too.  You can find the link on our free-space page.

What do we need to do beyond this?  We need to make this group project into a resource for each other and for the broader wikitree community.

Help now by identifying tasks you think should be addressed by Italian Roots, or tasks you are willing to step forward to undertake.

Let's see if we can build up a task list before March 19, the Feast of Saint Joseph!   (My grandfather's namesake, and my middle name.)

Ciao!

Hi Michael,

as wrote before I can help the Group in any way. I'm Italian, and my initial genealogical effort was to find my tree, an hobby i'm continuing till now adding info on wikitree and , more generally about my surname on my web site http://www.genealogiadavini.it A few months ago I've started to offer also "professional" services through two web sites (if someone is interested, please write me privately). So can help with translation, researches and so on. I suggest to put an advertisement in three of the Groups on Facebook "Italian genealogy", "Amici della genealogia" and "Italian Genealogical records" .

Ciao

Enrico

Promoting this on FB is a great idea.  If you can help me frame an invite, or would like to go forward and invite people in those FB groups, that would be wonderful.  I appreciate your longstanding willingness to help advance this project.  I'be listed you as part of the steering committee, if that is ok?

thank for adding me in steering committee.
