Searching for my great grand father FRANK SCHMIDT born in Stargardt, Prussia May 10, 1855.  Died in the Philippine Islands June 1900.  Was a soldier during the Spanish American War.

I was able to get his copies recording his enlistments in the US Army.

Hi... what was his wife's name?
Hi Keith,

Strange thing is he was listed as SINGLE on his military death records.

I am still figuring out if he is even my relative.  He died in June 1900 but on my grandmothers records, she put down Jan 1902 as her birth year.  Doesn't add up,  I have to search for baptismal records or something else in the Philippines for my grandmother Julia Schmidt Jan 1902..  Most records were burnt during WW II.  Her mother was Siriacha Yutoc.

Quite a goose chase.

Stargard church records are in the state archive of Szczecin: Archiwum Panstwowe w Szczecinie, ul. Sw. Wojciecha 13, PL-70-410 Szczecin http://www.szczecin.ap.gov.pl/

There is a Stargard subdivision: Oddzial w Stargardzie Szczecinskim , ul. Basztowa 2, PL-73-110 Stargard Szczecinski, Poland http://www.szczecin.ap.gov.pl/index.php/pl/Oddzialy/Stargard_Szczecinski/173

Apparently, LDS also has some church books for Stargard at least on microfilm, have not searched on FamilySearch.

Thanks for the links.  The ENGLISH version doesn't come up.

I will try to swing by a LDS here to search microfilm.  Great idea.

Thanks,

Bu
Google Chrome has a translator add-on that can translate the web pages. I've used it to translate German, Polish, and Italian while doing my searches. The translations are not always spot on, but they can be of great assistance when trying to locate specific items within a page.
