Trying to find records before 1812 from Alderney, Channel Islands

+6 votes
For several months, I've had no success with finding records stating the birth parents of Susan (born between 1810-1812 in Alderney, Channel Islands) who married Nathanael Meech and had one daughter, Mary A. Meech. I haven't had any luck checking on or familysearch for her parents, and I haven't found any more websites that include Alderney records before 1820!

I want to be able to go as far back as possible with my DIRECT maternal line. Please feel free to help and give me feedback!
in Genealogy Help by Living Cullip G2G6 (6.7k points) has a couple records of Susan Meech but I couldn't open them since I need paid membership. She married Nathanael Meech BEFORE 1841, but I couldn't find a record stating when.

Thanks for this Chris.   I've added a link to same to both the Channel Islands and Bailiwick of Guernsey categories.
I couldn't yet access a link on that "Library" site that took me to actual Alderney records. Instead, I was taken to a link that allows me to search for Library Books & Movies. I wasn't able to find a record there, even by using the "Search" box.

How does finding a record work on that site? How can you successfully access one? (I actually e-mailed the site for help)

I don't know if you've had any success finding Susan - your message was a long time ago.  Many Alderney records were lost during the occupation.  It seems you might have some luck if you got in touch with the church - I don't know if you have seen the following info.

The Church of St Anne: Baptisms 1662 - 1902 with annotations copied from an earlier (missing) book commenced in 1628, 1902 to present day in Church only.
Deaths from drowning and Burials 1652 to 1863. Succeeding Registers lost during the Occupation.
Marriages from 1657-1886.

The Priaulx Library have photocopies of Baptisms 1822-1832; Private Baptisms 1819-1821; Burials 1809-1812, 1853-59; Marriages 1841-1886.

Non-Conformists (Alderney only):

Catholic Church of St Anne and St Mary Magdalene: Baptisms March 1849-Oct 1952; Deaths January 1858 to April 1940 and two entries in 1946; Marriages from February 1852 to July 1924

Methodist: (English and French) and Presbyterian Church records prior to 1945 were destroyed during the German Occupation.
