It could be that her maiden name was Bates and her husband was Abial J. Towne. Alice Bates and Abial J. Town had a daughter Mary E. Towne, born Fitchburg, buried Cambridge.

This info from familysearch.org  Did not find her parents.

Neither the marriage nor the death record lists her parents.  Maybe you could try the CTGenWeb for Thomspon area?

Hello and thanks for your information; yes, indeed that is my 3-great grandmother, who died in 1859 in Fitchburg.  I've been in touch with the Thompson, CT Historical Society and no luck yet.  Thanks again for your response.

Hello and thanks so much for your response.

Alice's maiden name was indeed Bates, and although there are numerous Bates family members in the Thompson, CT area, there is no Alice or a woman with Alice as a middle name, when middle names are listed.  I've been in touch with the Thompson Historical Society and no luck yet, although they've tried!  Also, I found her gravestone and that of her husband, and she's listed on the stone as "Alice Bates Towne, 1799 - 1859".  Thanks again for your help.
