I study McMANUS, both black and white families from pre civil war and post. In my database I use the prefix Af-Am.  I just gedcomed some and am wondering what is the best way to address this without making a big issue of it. Thanks!

I believe WikiTree itself is Race Neutral in that there aren't specific categories for Race. For myself, I wouldnt use the Prefix field as that has been designated for Titles, Academic titles etc. See
http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Name_Fields#Surname_prepositions.2C_particles.2C_and_prefixes

Perhaps you should bring this up with the categorization group.

In fact, I'll delete the prefixes now.

That wouldn't be an appropriate prefix for WikiTree. You would need to make a duplicate of your tree and strip the Af-Am from that field with a search and replace function. Then you could make a GEDCOM that would work. Honestly, in order to keep the info on WikiTree, you'll need to make notes in each bio manually. You can also create personal tags but let's not get ahead of ourselves. :-)

You could set up a One Name Study here on WikiTree! http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:One_Name_Studies

I like the One Name Study idea.
