I am looking for information on Mable Howe birth date unknown. Mother of Beverley Dawn Howe born who was born on 20/02/1939 Married to Colin Howe in Melbourne Australia date unknown assuming prior to 1939. Beverley has no information except she may have died in the early 2000's. She separated from Colin a few years after the birth of Beverley and didn't keep in contact.

Any help would be appreciated because I know none of the facts about this side of my family.

Thank you

Hi guys,

Victoria has basic record searches available for free at this link:

https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/indexsearch.doj

Searching Colin Howe and a wife with the surname Laidlaw between 1930 and 1940 confirms there's a record for his marriage to Mabel Laidlaw in 1938, and you can get a copy of the record for $24.

I've got a couple of possible leads for Mabel's family - I can email what I have if you like?

Cheers for now
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back. Thanks so much! Is this the same Jo from SA? I know absolutely nothing about my grandmother Mabel so anything is great
Hi Jo, my email is tanya@wanaus.com.au (if I allowed to add it) if you have time to email any leads on Mabel Laidlaw. Let me know if I can help with anything :)

Cheers

Tanya
Thank you Wayne. I joined, lots of researching ahead!
Tanya contacted me privately about a month ago, so she is still looking.  She now has a tree here dated 2016.  Colin Howe is Howe-5876 .  The name Laidlaw may not be as common as Smith, but there are graziers of the name all over the Western District of Victoria, descended ultimately from Sir Walter Scott's family.  Laidlaw is a recognized sept of the Scott clan.  I am not related to them or to Tanya's family.  The best bet seems to be to purchase the marriage certificate, as Jo suggests, or to search immigration records.
