William married Mary Maulsey (Farris/Faries) O'Neal, a young widow of John O'Neal. My William is often confused with other William Ware's, one being William Ware the founder of Waresville, now Uvalde, Texas and another William Ware who died in Pontotoc, MS the same year, 1855.
William Murtha Wilder published a book in 1945 titled "Wilder and Some Connecting (especially some WARE) Families in the Southeastern United States" that lists the parents of my William as William Ware (who lived to be 116 years old apparently) and Hetty (Ellis), dau. of Joseph Ellis. Mr. Wilder does not list a source for this information and after nearly 20 years of researching, I have yet to find one.
On the 1850 Chester, SC Census, William states he was born in SC and his age would put him being born about 1795. He died in March 1855 without a Will. Probate lists no one else with the last name of Ware other than his children. There are no Ware's living near them. Relatives near them appear to be Mary's relatives. No burial site ever found. I have researched other Ware/Weir/Wear families in SC and have been unable to connect him to any of them.
