hello; I have been searching for a few years now for my great-great grandfather, john Cunningham turner's burial site; I know he died in Azusa, California, but I have been unable to locate the actual grave, especially since he died in 1877, I cannot find a grave site. thank you for any information you may have. Have you tried Find A Grave?

You can search for cemeteries, graveyards within the vicinity of California.  http://findagrave.com

Doubtful but these were the only two John C. Turners who died in 1877 - different states though.

Asusa is in Los Angeles County. Asusa's one cemetery is Fairmount Cemetery. It is a registered state and federal landmark.

Here is a link to about the cemetery: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ca/losangeles/cemeteries/fairmount.txt

I did not find his name on the list of internment's but it doesn't mean he isn't there due to vandalism. There are 73 more cemeteries in the Asusa area. The problem may be that he does not have a gravesite at any of them due to many being buried on private land that has now been developed.

hello; thank you for the information, I have heard of this cemetery and have wanted to visit the site. back in 1877 when my great great grandfather died, there doesn't seem to be very many cemeteries in the los angeles county. my grandfather was a mason and chaplain of a lodge. so i don't understand why i haven't been able to find his grave. he was fairly well known in the los angeles area. again thank you and i will follow this lead. sincerely, Janine duran
