Another old resident has passed away in the person of Mr. Matthew Cummings of Ponsonby. who died yesterday at the Auckland Hospital. He arrived in the ship Caduceus from Victoria in 1863, at the time of the Maori war, and joined the local corps engaged in conveying provisions to the troops; later he belonged to the militia and volunteer corps, resident at the Thames for years. He leaves a widow and grown up family.
