I am looking for ancestors of Almon Delos Washburn (1814)- Vermont. Father Samuel-Vemont

14 Oct 1814 • Georgia, Franklin, Vermont, United States died 4 Mar 1901 • Onalaska, La Crosse, Wisconsin, United States.  Brothers Ira (1807-89), Samuel Jr. (1812-72) Solomon(1819-1915), Levi Alonzo (1830-1895), sisters Christina (1809-?), Delia (Andrews)(1822-87), Sophronia (1826-62).  Father Samuel believed to be born in Vermont - that's where we get lost.

His mother went by several names.  She uses Dyadama/Diademia in a lot of deed records (in Vermont) between her, her husband, her sisters and their husbands.  On the 1850 census she uses the name Eliza.

The parents of Samuel Washburn are unknown. Several sites and trees claim that his parents were Isaiah Washburn and Patience Perkins. While it is true that Isaiah was in Georgia, Franklin County, Vermont when both Samuel Washburn and Isaiah Washburn Jr. were living there, the proof of him as father to Samuel is not credible. Isaiah's pension application has him returning to Massachusetts shortly before his death to live with his "only child". As Samuel was still living, this would indicate that Samuel was not Isaiah's son.

It is likely that he was related to Isaiah. Perhaps a nephew. Several descendants of Samuel have DNA tested, but only autosomal. There is no definitive proof from these testers, but the lack of matches to the Perkins family seems to also bolster the fact that he is not the son of Patience Perkins. There is some small cluster matching to  Dardona Washburn , a sister of Isaiah -- which increases the likelihood that Samuel is likely a nephew of Isaiah. It is just as likely that he is a son of Samuel Washburn IV or Reuben Washburn

Sandra -- Actually that is part of the text I put on the profile as opposed to Dan Jones, but I do not necessarily need the credit.  I am descended from Samuel's son Solomon, and have done a fair bot of research on him.  I have several of his descedants DNA tested -- including my grandmother and her sister who are the great-granddaughters of Samuel.  Since they are so close to him generationally their tests are actually very key in showing that it is definitely *not* Isaiah, but at least one of Isiah's brothers -- be it Samuel or Reuben.)

The earliest Washburn I know about is Roger De Washbourne, born about 1219 in Washbourne, South Worcester, England.

Thank you.  The missing link is finding out WHICH of my ancestors served in the American Revolution.  My aunt swears that my grandmother had a DAR ribbon with information on it in a family bible (which of course we can't locate).  But I have checked with DAR and cannot find the link -
