Merging of GEDCOM & WikiTree entries

I'm new to WikiTree world and have been playing at adding my data. I found out I could export all my work from Ancestry.com in a GEDCOM file which I did this morning. I ran the WikiTree update process and got a compare report. All of the folks I put in yesterday to learn a little about the WikiTree tools are showing up as duplicates. I would rather have the GEDCOM entries added to WikiTree since they are complete and I have the correct relationships.

Do I just go in and compare the duplicates, mark them as match with the duplicate to merge selected and then import the GEDCOM file? There are 9 of these duplicates I would need to clean-up.

I know WikiTree does not delete data but it would be a cleaner import if I could just delete my work from yesterday and import the whole GEDCOM file.

Thanks for the help.

I can't tell if you've already read the GEDCOM info pages. The first thing is don't import a massive amount on the first go; try 50.

Since you've only got 9 manually added, I would select them as matches and enter the rest of the info manually.

Finally, something else to consider. Ancestry imports a lot of stuff that we end up editing down or eliminating over time.
