Bell a tribal name

Having just looked at the questions about people with the surname of Bell I was wondering, because most people think of it as Scottish tribal clan. It might be an advantage for them to cruise on down to the Cumberland Norththumberland Border then extend their search into the closest areas in England such as Durham and even North Yorkshire and as there appears to be a pattern in the way people went looking for work when times were hard and if they had family to stay with it made it a lot easier to complete the transition. They went where the work was and they followed family.
