Correcting project

I had authority to edit my oldest known ancestor Stephen Garrison-1387. But now he has been assigned some project and I cannot.

Problem is that a cousin has assigned him a mother and father and siblings but there is NO documentation that any of them ever actually existed. He copied it from Ancestry. This AFTER I had emailed him when he had assigned a father to Stephen and explained integrity to him and he said he understood and removed it.

It destroys the work done on Wiki and the credibility of my family name. If he can do this why not just say that the parents name is BUGS BUNNY?

I think first ask him to remove them again. Your on the trusted list, but need to be a manager. Ask him to make you a manager also. He can do this very easily from the privacy tab.
I agree with Anne. Have you already asked to be made a manager? Let us know what steps you've already taken. There is a way!

I'm not sure exactly what your problem is.  If your ancestor is definitely a Revolutionary War soldier, I'd think you'd be able to join the project and at least contribute to straightening out the problem.  By the time you get back to the Rev War there are usually hundreds if not thousands of "cousins" and it's necessary to get some sort of consensus of what a soldier's profile should look line and what connections have been proved.  The profile didn't look too sourced yet, so it probably needs some more things which will show (or not) that the claimed parents are not likely to be Stephen's parents.  the big thing is to make sure not to get in too much of a hurry and present your case to the people in the project so that your position is known and appreciated.  Good Luck.

The problem is that the profile is project protected and Milton, not being a PM, has no way to make changes to errors he perceives on the profile.
But does he have no way to make changes?  Maybe not single-handedly, but that's the whole point of being project protected.  The desire is to make changes the result of a consensus (or at least discussion)..  There are like 250 people in the 1776 project.  Not everyone is going to be working on the same line but I'm sure there are a number who would be willing to examine Milton's position and either help him by talking to others who can help him, or they might persuade Milton to compromise and find a way forward via future research.
Dave, the point is he needs to be added as a PM OR he needs cooperation from the folks who are. That's all.
I'm confused; the profile is Open. There is no project named as profile manager. Milton is on the Trusted List.

I'm neither PM or TL, and I can Edit the profile.

Why can't he make changes?
In fact, just to see if I could, I detached David as father. I got no warning that I could not do that. (I then re-attached him since this was just a test.)
I tried to change parents yesterday and could not. Got the big red warning about project protection and was returned to the profile front page.
I just tried again. You must have special powers. Because it's PPP it will not let me (or Milton) change parents.
Jillaine, I still don't have the power to change parents on a PPP.
Sandi, I think I know what's going on. I'm a project coordinator on another project. That must give me "super powers" that extend to other projects. I didn't realize that til this experience. My apologies to everyone for leading us to believe there was something else going on.

Milton, Have you had any luck connecting with the profile manager?

I am late to the discussion here.  Keep in mind that a Project Protected Profile does not prevent the profile from being edited and changed.

Until very recently, the only thing a PPP did was protect the WikiTree ID from being merged away.  All duplicates must be merged into that profile.

However, I believe what you are running into is that the Parents are now protected as well.  However, there was a bug that limited who can change the parents. It should be fixed now.

What is the current status of this Profile?  What needs to happen?
