Thank you Betty. I guess I should have phrased the question differently. I'm looking for information concerning my great-grandfather Jonathan's father, William Green. Jonathan was born in Ohio (from census info.) and the family story is William was born in England. That's as far as I know.

I think you have hit the same wall as I have, I have beenlooking into the Bowens of Wales and there are thousands of them and no way of really telling who is related, but cleer is not a comman name was she from england too

Elaine, According to what little info I've been able to dredge up from family members Elizabeth Cleer and William were married in England and then came to America. I have no idea where they landed. The only other clue is my great-grandfather Jonathan was born somewhere in Ohio. Thank you for your assistance!
