I have added the following Biography with embedded source reference. I think I have done it correctly. However the source reference does not display below. What is the problem? ... thank you John

Steven John was born at Carlton, Victoria on 26 April 1974. Steven John is the eldest son of John Edward Bright and Helen Joyce Roberts.

John,

The line looks correct.  Do you have the <references /> line?

I pasted your line into my test page and it is fine.  See  http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:Excise_D

Thank you for quick response. However, still will not display source for my entry!!

Maybe it is something to do with the source already shown below my entry that is causing a problem for me....and stopping my source from displaying.

I have copied ALL the info on edit page so you can see.

Biography
Steven John was born at Carlton, Victoria on 26 April 1974. Steven John is the eldest son of John Edward Bright and Helen Joyce Roberts.

* First-hand information. Entered by Steven Bright at registration.

John, as Philip said in his answer, you need to add the <references /> code to the sources section. It is missing from your text and is not the same as the <ref> code - though they seem to work together..

The <references /> code should be placed either directly below the ==Sources== tag or directly under the "First-hand info..." statement.

Placement will affect where the footnote info appears, so experiment to see which placement you prefer!

Thank you both. Both your answers are correct.. it took me a while to figure it out.

I see I had caused the problem myself when I deleted the line <references /> from below the ==Sources== tag and this is why it did not display the source.

A small omission ......but important!

thank you

John
