Hi all,

I just found Antonio's obituary on Newspapers.com but I only have the basic version and therefore cannot access it. So does anyone have access to the Democrat and Chronicle from January and November of 1945 online either through the Publisher extra edition of Newspapers.com or maybe even Genealogy Bank or know of a free site I could search?

Please and thank you,

Mike

Any chance they were catholic?   nyshistoricnewspapers.org has a collection of Catholic newspapers, one runs through all of 1945...

Use Monroe County or Rochester for a search term.  Good luck.

I added jpgs of the 1944 and 1945 stories to Anthony Di Leo's profile.

Thank you, Marc! I really appreciate it! I was not entirely sure if this was my relative. I was sure enough to assume it but not confirm it but the mention of aunts and uncles in Cleveland helps me feel much more confident about the connection.

You've done plenty but I was just wondering if you might have found a record for Mariano in November 1945. I want to say it would be on the 12 or 13.

Thank you,

Mike
I couldn't find any stories that mention Mariano Di Leo besides the ones I attached.  I expanded the search to all New York State newspapers between 1940 and 1960 and still did not find any more.
Okay thank you, Marc. I appreciate the effort and just have one final question: where did you find the articles?

Mike
Through my paid subscription to Newspapers.com Publishers Extra.
That is weird because I don't have the subscription but I see the obituary snippet when I search "Mariano Dileo"  it's the first thing that pops up pretty much.

I was searching "Di Leo" and it wasn't finding "DiLeo".  I found it and attached to his profile. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Di_Leo-16

Have you tried looking here? It's free and has most of the New York newspapers.
