Why can't I create a mother for Sam Walter Foss?

Question

The message I get is:  Error with duplicate ID when creating account for Unknown  Unable to create new mother.

Jill, thanks for reporting the problem. We're still investigating the cause, but it seems to be working now.

Created Polly Hardy as mother of Sam Foss - it did not give me an error.

May have had something to do with how I created her. I went to the husband, and created her as spouse so that the marriage data would present. I checked the box that indicated that she was Sam's mother. I also removed myself as Profile Manager in case you want to take it and correct any errors.

I think we have a different problem. I think the system's not accepting "Unknown" for LNAB. Which actually is a problem.

If I'm not mistaken, I got this once. I had to put "unknown" in all caps. "UNKNOWN". edited: forget what I just wrote. I see there are Unknowns out there. Sorry.

I've encountered the same problem twice this weekend. Best I can figure, the system's no longer accepting "Unknown" as a last name. It might be by intention, but that seems strange indeed. We'd miss out on a lot of mothers if the LNAB must be known before you can create a profile. Another possibility is that we've used up all the numbers available for "Unknown", not unlike the Y2K problem that never really was. My best guess is that there was a strange problem with the last "Unknown" profile entered - file corruption or something, and the counter's messed up.
