Problem entering ancestor

Question

I'm trying to add a g-g-grandmother. I put in all the info (don't know her maiden name, so am entering 'unknown'), no close matches, but when I get it all in and  click 'add spouse' or 'add mother' I get this message: Error with duplicate ID when creating account for Unknown
Unable to create/save new mother

Help?

While we're waiting for this to be fixed, you can repurpose one of the profiles in the Recycle Unknowns category. Just adopt one of the profiles and change the information as needed.

Sorry for the trouble. Thanks for reporting it.

I'm investigating now. I'm not sure what was happening, and whether it's corrected itself, but right now I can create a new profile with Unknown as the LNAB. Does it work for you now?

Whenever these kinds of "glitches" happen, you need to send the details to info@wikitree.com.   Make sure you include profile IDs and as much detail of what you are trying to do.   Please do not start creating profiles with new last name construction, albeit, it works....it just makes it harder in the future to find duplicates and merge them.

That is a recurring, but new, problem. I've encountered it twice this weekend, and someone else posted about it, too. I posted about it the first time, and someone found the correct LNAB. Solved for the moment, but then it happened again.

It's a holiday weekend, so it might take awhile for tech people to dig into this problem. In the meantime, I'm using "Temporary" for LNAB instead. I got Temporary-17 assigned. It shouldn't be hard to go back and readjust once this is fixed. There's a corrupt file or some such going on.

Elizabeth -- as mentioned above, it would be better to use one of the Recycle Unknown profiles instead of creating a new surname.  Thanks!!
