I went over to Wikapedia  and read much of the very long biology he has there.  Then I checked here in WikiTree and find him as Bell-115 and his Bell line goes back to Patrick Bell b ~1630 Scotland.  There's probably a pretty good chance that your bells connect to him, though even with some 15,000 Bells on Wikitree it may take you a while to trace down the connection.  Since he only had 2 daughters, you'll have to make the connection among his ancestors.  I do have some relations with the Bell surname though not very close.  There's an Elizabeth Parker (1788-1841) who married a Joseph Bell (1795-1878) and Elizabeth is a 1st cousin 5 times removed.  If you join MikiTree you can start building out your line as much as you can, asking questions as you go along and I expect you'll eventually reach your goal.
