I study the Beale Wagon Road - the first transcontinental highway in the US. Near Leupp, AZ many travelers left their names carved on a large rock by the roadside, now known as "Register Rock." One of these reads "Henry Chilton 1881". It is most likely that Mr. Chilton was traveling by wagon to California, but other destinations are possible and a few people used the Road to travel eastward.
Is it possible to identify this Henry Chilton and learn something of him? If not is it possible to make a short list of Henry Chiltons this could have been for further study? I estimate DOB is probably in the range 1840 - 1864.
Many thanks, Richard Oliver, Flagstaff, AZ
