The address for Gladwyn Browne was given as Bidston, Gypsy Hill, London SE, in 1915

Gladwyn bought a yacht which he named "Gladwyena"  Why?

I'm doing a history of this yacht.

The yacht sounds a lot like Mr. Browne's first name. Do you know the year that he was born and his marriage year? What was his location when he was born? If he was christened, it might have been in the same place as the marriage. Do you have any estimate of death year and location?
Thanks Frank,

The only lead I have is the entry in the 1915 Lloyds Register of Yachts which has Mr Browne as Owner and living in Bidston, Gypsy's Hill, London.   Lambeth Council, who reckon they have comprehensive data confirm that he was living there but gave no further details.  I have assumed that he might have combined his name with his wife's in order to christen the yacht. If his wife's name was Ena then it makes sense.  Hence I needed confirmation that Ena was her name or something which could be shortened to Ena.   UK Census online does not go past 1911 so does not help me.

It is possible that Gladwyn may have perished in the Great War but I found no answers in Military records.

Cheers,

Peter Raymond
