Hi Cindy what's currently on the profiles, for this family is not a lot to go on. However. I don't think that Charles owned land in Ohio. You could probably check land records in Ohio to see who owned the land that Elwin bought.

The reason I don't think that Charles owned the land is because he served in the Civil War from Michigan. Aramintha (Gee) Reeves remarried a man named Logan and then a man named Patterson. After Patterson's death she applied for a widow's pension. The documents are available at Fold3. There are 114 pages. Some of their children are listed. but the clencher was that Elwin V of Ohio, applied for death benefits.

You can get a 7 day free trial at Fold 3, which should be enough time to get what you need. Just search for Aramintha Reeves and then find the entry for Civil War Widows pensions. It was at the top of the list.

Thank you so much. I am so curious how my grand father got this land. his father Elwin Sr passed. Armintha Patterson is listed on census livivg there as well.
