This name has a lot of variant and is sometimes spelled with an umlaut. It means Miller in German.

If you include Category:Mueller Name Study, then that will create and link to a category page for your ONS, where the relevant profiles which have your ONS category on them will be gathered.

If case anyone needs to know how to type the "u" with umlaut on a PC:

Set the NumLock key

Hold down the ALT key

Use the number pad to type 0252

For a capital U you need to hold down the shift key or use CapLock

Actually the original spelling is Müller (my maternal great-grandmother's maiden name). It's origins are mostly German but also Swiss, Austrian, and Prussian (remembering that the eastern part of Prussia is currently Polish).

The "Mueller" spelling only came into being when dealing with foreigners and after the typewriter/typeset became fashionable. The "ü" is pronounced by saying a hard "e" but then puckering your lips real hard.

Love how Bob tells how to actually pronounce Müller/Müeller.

I have recently found that my Mueller family branch is from Prussia (Mueller-4164).  I corrected most of the teachers I had growing up, quite a few employers and a multitude of government employees on how to say and spell my last name (not to mention having to explain my first name at birth - Joey, and no my parents didn't want a boy I was named after Joey Heatherton) and finally just gave up, I now use a nickname and the last name is whatever they say.  Funnily enough,  when I lived in Vermont (USA) everyone got the last name right, I like this explanation.

As soon as this is set up as a Category, I would like to add profiles from Brandenburg province in Prussia and Wisconsin.
