P.S. .. Interesting family line Michael ! .. found extensive North American family information. Tres Bien .. Barbeau dit Boisdore

Not sure if you are still looking for info on Jean and his family, but I am one of his great great great... well way great grandson and I do have a big part of the genealogic tree in my possession, from Jean to Henri, to Georges, to Jean-Baptiste, to Vital, To Germain, to Vital, to Leopold, to Joseph and from their all the family from their. That info dates from 1990, but still... that is 200 pages of records.

What I am looking for is info on the family tree up from Jean (his father and up) if you have any info.

Well, don't know where Ancestry gets their data on him coming to Canada to die here, no evidence whatsoever of that.  The man who died on 24 July 1655 in Montréal was named Jean Frénot, which is not at all the same name.

From what I can find, the one who came to Canada was his son Henri, who married in 1665.  He was the first of that family to come here.

Have entered data from his son's Fichier Origine file in his profile as well as that of his wife's profile.  There are 6 known children to the couple, 3 girls and 3 boys, the girls are known to marry in France.  The man's wife dies in France in 1679.

Keen points Danielle Liard .. ! ..

While I was searching for the sources, the questions you raise became more apparent. I think further detail might be possible through the Netherlands sources and I think they will support your logical deductions.  The fact that there is an absence of sources from Nouvelle Francaise is logically telling.

C'est Bon Magnifique ..
