Hi! Everyone!

I spent the day at home yesterday and had no pranks!  I saw some on Facebook though.  I spent the end of the week printing off sheets for another family line (I keep hard copy and digital copy of my work) of my husband's family (Notten) that someone shared matches with me on Family Search.com.  Wow!  I received lots of people I didn't know about and additional information to go with what I already had.  This is a German line in the family,

Today we are home caring my MIL so I am inputting new profiles from the Notten family.  We home care until Tuesday noon so I have lots of time to input my family profiles.  My only problem is I have lots of profiles to enter but only have Family Search, Find A Grave, and our huge Loveland Family Album that was started in 1921.  Wiki Tree can be addictive!

I am also enjoying getting to know people on Wiki Tree.  One person contacted me that they put some resources on my profile.  I really appreciated that!  Another person added "This profile is in need of resources" on several of my recently added profiles.  That was a bummer but I survived it!  I need a good book on how to find resources.

That all said I live in Michigan and the weather keeps going from 30's and 40's to mid and high 60's.  The trees are budding and spring flowers are in bloom so I hope our spring weather stays and warms up now.  We have thunderstorms instead of snow storms in SE Michigan so that is a good sign.

One prank on FB yesterday was a picture of our Sonic driveway with a small car stuck in the newly poured cement driveway!!!  I then noticed that it was a prank because we come in the other way from the street to enter!!!  Close but I got it!!!  Lol!

Everyone have a great day!!
Came across an interesting video short this week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfGMYdalClU

Both funny and sad, like reality.  :)

I would like to make some suggestions for Wikitree and see what others think about them.  I absolutely love Wikitree and feel a little disloyal even making suggestions; nevertheless, for what they’re worth here are some.  (I realize there are work-a-rounds for some of these and probably some are already available and I just don’t know how to do them. Some, it seems to me, would be quite easy to add; others, probably quite difficult or impossible.)  Anyway, I’ll appreciate your feedback, other suggestions, etc.

***In Wikitree Help, PLEASE have a central location, perhaps a separate, new section  for suggestions so that they would be easy to scroll through.

BIOS:
Offer a search and replace function within a bio.
Enable us to format text font name, size, and color easily.
Add a way to see easily and quickly when something new has been added in a bio (perhaps a different font color?)  Ideally let us say we’d like to see all changes since YYYY-MM-DD (a particular date).

NAME SEARCHES:
When searching for a name, permit wild card searches, boolean (AND, OR) searches.
Add Soundex name searches.
Enable a search for last name & Wikitree ID# (e.g., Smith-1)

IMAGES:
Add # of images on images tab.
Let us add borders to images
Ability to access imaging editing software from within Wikitree.

NEW FIELD:
Place of burial.

A to-do section on the profile page (perhaps formatted like the messages one can add).

NEW SERVICE:
Maintain a list of genealogy/local history books, etc., and name(s) of member(s)  who’ll do look-ups in a particular book, journal, subscription website.

Enable us to contact several profile managers at one time.

Enable us to see a list of all the profile managers for a particular surname, together with the earliest-born person with that surname:

profile manager   earliest ancestor  dob of the ancestor

ECARDS:
Let us choose the date to be sent.
Let us send one card to several recipients at the same time.

Happy April Fools Day

Any pranks planned?

In 1957, the BBC reported that Swiss farmers were experiencing a record spaghetti crop and showed footage of people harvesting noodles from trees; numerous viewers were fooled.

In 1996, Taco Bell, the fast-food restaurant chain, duped people when it announced it had agreed to purchase Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell and intended to rename it the Taco Liberty Bell.

In 1998, after Burger King advertised a “Left-Handed Whopper,” scores of clueless customers requested the fake sandwich.

Whats new.....discovered any left-handed sources?

I used to manage a sporting goods store and liked to send whoever was the new guy over to the tennis racket wall and sort out all of the left handed rackets.

Last weekend I was in the south and my allergies were acting up, this weekend I am back home and have a cold. That means I am allergic to the south and sick of the north. All joking aside I am still working on the lines I started for my son in law last weekend. A lot of the profiles were already on here but needed a lot of TLC because they are from a GEDCOM import and have not been touched since 2011. I am adopting what I can and creating some others that are not on here yet but his line is more like a briar patch than a tree.

I also got my digital copy of the new Star Wars movie early this morning and plan on watching that sometime later this weekend.

Allergic to the South...must be an April Fools joke!!! You need to use the Force Dale.
Doug I wish it was a joke but I am serious. I just made it to the North Carolina Welcome center before I could not see with the watery eyes and even then I could only see out of one of them.
I know what you mean. My first spring in Richmond, VA in 1975 was eye opening...cars, streets, houses, everything was covered in yellow dust.
We had a big snow storm last night so I took the time to watch Star Wars The Force Awakens today. I will be watching it again sometime soon, I now own a digital copy, and can not wait until episode VIII comes out.

Good Morning.  Sunshine this morning, yay!  Snow is melting and the roads are dry.  Looking forward to a quiet weekend.  Saturday we will spend 5+ hours sitting at a Track event to watch our daughter run three events, we will actually see her run for about 13.6 sec x 3 events = 40.8 sec.  And it will be a good day if we see her run less.  Track is a weird event.  The less you see the better it goes.  She runs the 4 x 100m relay, the open 100m Dash, and the 100m leg of the Sprint Medley.  Go Meg Go.!

Busy weekend. I'm going to the dentist this afternoon, a Toastmasters contest tomorrow morning and a barbeque tomorrow evening with Sunday still up in the air as to what we're doing..

As far as WikiTree goes, I was feeling I'd run out of questions to ask on g2g and then I sat down started one with nothing in mind and boom I came up with something I wanted to know and when I got a quick answer I had another thing I needed to ask which let to a small project I needed to do which has led to a major project in redoing my profiles... IOW just a normal day in the life of a WikkiTreer.

Are you giving a speech at the contest or just attending?
Well, I volunteered to be a Sargent at Arms (SAA).  It is an Area Contest which includes one of the two clubs I belong to.  Unfortunately I'm not real good with competitive speaking, albeit I'm a Distinguished Toastmaster (the highest level in Toastmasters, though other appellations are used such as "Past District Governor" or "International Director" )

I seem to have plenty of interests and as a retired civil servant am a member of the Civil Service Pensioners Alliance(CSPA) They have a local branch and as one of the younger ones am on the committee. We had our local AGM yesterday and combined it with a lunch at The Esplanade Hotel, Clacton-on-sea, Essex, England. It was a very nice lunch.......

The lunch helps to get members along. My colleague Stan Kordys who is the chairman, ensures the formal part of the business is transacted swiftly so we can enjoy the lunch. We invited the Assistant General Secretary of CSPA Lisa Ray to come and speak to us about the work of the organisation and current campaigning. Made a nice day....

Interestingly enough finding out more about my ancestors to me is just as important to me as finding how far I can go back with the family line.          It no doubt means more research but it adds more to the knowledge about our ancestors. Many in UK would have been members of the many friendly societies that existed in Victorian times and a number of which still exist.

Its been a nice bright day today and hopefully will remain so over the weekend,

More next time

Chris
