Just found out I might have a brother. All I have are names and a possible state. Anybody know what I can do next?

Hi Judy, congratulations!  I'm excited for you.

Hopefully we are able to help without breaking any Privacy policies (in place to protect living people).  We have to be careful not to publicly share information that could help identify, locate, or otherwise expose someone who is or might be alive.

The first thing I would do is go to FamilySearch and search for records using the name and place you have.  If you wish help, you can message me privately from my profile page and I am happy to search with you.

Best of luck!
Hi Judy.  You might try searching on whitepages.com using the info you have and trying some different possible variants of the names (e.g., alternate spellings, nicknames, names with and without middle initial, etc.).  There are some other web sites that do the same thing, so just try googling the names you have.

I'd second Dennis' suggestions; it's amazing what a Google search can throw up. I recently tracked down a descendant of an 18C man who may be my ancester; all I had was a name and birth year and the fact that his grandfather lived in Queensland. Good luck!
