You have to register on the site first.  Looks like it just signs you up for thei 14 day trial period.  I didn't go further than entering a name to search when the registration window appeared.  Bummer
You must enter a CC # upon registry & Cancel it before your Trial date is up.

P.S. I learned this the hard way, But still use it as a back up within the Biography: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Halstead-463  AS I dispute their Sources.
I have been registered on this site without being asked to do a trial period. Just signed in and was not asked anything. I do take advantage of their fee offers.

Thanks so much for mentioning this. Found the enlistment papers for my gr-gr-grandfather & now have his description and location of birth :D

I was also processing a scholarship application that was missing traditional proof of service & was able to find it in Fold3.

I'm not a subscriber, so I wouldn't have thought to look if I hadn't seen Star's post.

Thanks again!

On the registration page, to the far right, is a free registration option with no credit card required. It does work and you can view the images.

I was able to find, view, and download my 2xgreat-grandfather's compiled service record. It included a receipt with his signature that was not included in the packet received from NARA by a cousin.

Cool, I guess I missed it :)
Thanks Star, and Debi...did the free registration, and got two hits right away, including info on War of 1812 soldier.

Did not happen at first. Got in free later after they sent an email welcoming the fact I backed out early. Works for most of it. Regards
