Who is Charles Fox's father?

I have a problem whereby I originally thought that Charles Fox - Fox 7657 b. 1845 to parents Samuel Fox and wife Eliza Morgan ( I havent yet done a profile for either Samuel or Eliza here. Now whilst researching the Fox family with My Heritage I received a message from a person who said that we shared some of the same family ( I dont know this person) when I looked, sure enough he had information about my Paternal Grandfather Frank Fox- Fox 7585, and also Franks Father Charles Fox, Oh happy day....but I have since found out that the parents of Charles that are listed on the other persons tree are not the same as mine, he has the parents as John Fox b 1807 d. 1877 and wife Martha Fox, logically we should share the same GG Grandparents. Charles Fox married twice, and had further children with his second wife, which shows up in both my tree and the other persons tree, and I am thinking that this is where the match is between myself and the other person. There are many many Fox's that all lived in and around the same area which makes it difficult, how do I go about finding out for sure who are the true parents, I have tried looking through census, BMD's etc but its all so confusing. any help would be much appreciated. thanks Anne

Sorry for tardy reply, Thank you Betty, what you have found for me is correct, Anne
Alright, in the 1861 Cenusus that lists Charles Fox with parents John aged 54 and Martha aged 47 there is also listed on page 20 Betty Shaw aged 40 and widowed who has a daughter Jane Shaw aged 15. Both of them are woolen pullers for trade.

If Charles married Jane Shaw then John and Martha are logically his parents?

Betty
Hi Betty, this is what I have and believe to be true, my ancestor is on the left, and the other persons on the right, hopefully you will be able to see the link.

What data do you have to prove that Samuel is Charles' father?

Just trying to see which scenario is the most likely.
Hi Betty,

I have records of his birth at a certain place, and then his marriage, which is in the same area, and the dates would be right,  I followed him via census reports, which  included siblings and then children, I then followed Charles the same way which resulted in my Grandfather Frank showing up. Franks birth date is correct within those reports,it was a little difficult because of Charles second marriage.
Charles was born 1845 not Samuel.

I'm confused.

Betty
sorry I have just realised what I have done....
its back to the drawing board with the scholars cert, its certainly an ancestor. The bible had many names and dates on the front page, but in a fit of rage, for what ever reason my Grandmother tore them out, which is so very sad. I will see if I can find out who Samuel ' the scholar' is, who knows it may lead to more proof, or it may prove that someone else is Charles father.
