Possible Meriwether Lewis Connection

Question

Hello all! It has been passed down in my family that we were related to Meriwether Lewis. I've gotten pretty close, but it gets sketchy. I've "Google'd" so much, every website says something different, I really don't know what to believe!
I haven't found anything"concrete". Some of the dates may be off a bit. If anything, Meriwether would be a cousin of some sort, possibly. If anyone knows anything, please don't hesitate. Thanks!

(After William, I have Nicholas. I also have a Bushrod and a Crawford, if that helps. I just don't know where HE fits in.)

I see. When I first created the profile for Sarah Pierce, it showed no possible matches. So I went ahead with it. Not knowing that there was a Sarah Meriwether for the same person. (Pierce is the name she was born with and Meriwether is her middle name, I believe.)

I didn't want to add certain people until I could be sure, I'll be more careful next time!

It happens. Now if there are still 2 profiles, they need to be merged. Merge INTO the correct last name at birth.

David Crawford 1625 married Jane Douglas

Dgh - Elizabeth Crawford 1650 married Gen. Nicholas Meriwether II

Dgh - Jane Meriwether 1705 married Col. Robert Lewis

Son - William Lewis 1735 married Lucy Meriwether

Son - Meriwether Lewis 1774 (Committed suicide or was murdered. Had no children)

 

My ancestor and Elizabeth Crawford 1650 were siblings.

I believe your William Meriwether 1692 was brother to Jane Meriwether 1705.  Both are children of General Nicholas Meriwether II and Elizabeth Crawford.
