Is there a Mayflower Pilgrim Descendant badge?

I'm John Kingman, descendant of Henry Kingman who immigrated from England circa 1635. I'm helping with the Kingman Name Study, Henry Kingman of Weymouth MA.

I know that there is a Mayflower project, but I was wondering if there was a badge for folks who are members of the Mayflower Society. Some of my relatives have joined, but I have not. I think members probably have some experience with Mayflower family genealogy.

No such badge exists. Descent just from Henry would apply to 1,823 profiles currently on WikiTree.

There is not a badge. However there is a category - Category: Mayflower Descendants On WikiTree

"This is the category for members of the Mayflower Descendants on WikiTree Interest Group", so you don't actually have to go through the sometimes lengthy process of joining the Society, you can just add the category to your profile.

Thanks. I was not aware of that group.
There are many rewards to actual membership in the General Society of Mayflower Descendants and the state societies of Mayflower Descendants.   The application process is strict to eliminate as much error as possible, and preserve good records going forward.  I encourage those with Mayflower descent to prove their lines and submit applications, not just for yourself but for your extended family.
I agree Carol. I am a documented descendant and member of the society. In my opinion, if you are not willing to go through the documentation process, you can't call yourself a 'Mayflower' descendant. A little harsh, maybe, but I worked very hard to get my documentation.

Thanks, Tom Allen

Maybe someone could start a new CategoriesOrganizations | Society for the Mayflower Society.

John

Thanks Tom.  I agree, although I might be more generous and say those who are not members of GMSD may be unproven descendants of the Mayflower passengers, and encourage them to prove it through the society.  Ours is a society that was created to attain high standards in genealogical proof, and we have continued that through the years.  This is what most of us participating here believe in.  It isn't so special to be of the blood lines, as I think there are millions of us.  It is special to be able to prove it, and do our bit to help the next generations to do so too.
I completely agree!
Agree....and well said!
