My reading of this suggests that this was a regimental prize medal for the best team in a particular discipline - perhaps either an inter-company (intra-Regimental) competition, or an inter-Regimental competition. Perhaps Lance-Sergeant Brand was the leader of the winning team.

This particular medal being issued to members of the winning team in the bayonneting competition.

hi thats spot on .i found a news article . he got bronze in long jump one year and also fencing another year 1931/ 1932 unfortunatly i am not in posession of his medals they belonged to my dad who has now passed on . i took photos of all the medals just for a keepsake
