Joseph B. Viles, b. 10 May 1825 at Industry, Franklin, Maine, son of Leonard Viles and Annah Bray, married Arabella S. Savage at Industry on 30 April 1848. They had at least 7 children. Joseph and Arabella are shown on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 US Censuses in Industry or Farmington, Maine.
In 1880, a Joseph Viles and his wife Sarah are living in Temple, Franklin, Maine, with two children: Steven D., 14, and Aura E., 6. In 1900 Joseph and Sarah are found still living in Temple. They say they have been married for 28 years, and Sarah has had 5 children.
Jos. B. Viles died on 7 June 1910 at Temple, Franklin, ME. His death record does not show a spouse, but it does show his parents as Lenord and Anna. Sarah Viles, widow of J.B. Viles, died 11 Feb 1922 at 77 High Street, Farmington, but her previous residence had been Temple. Her death record shows that she was born in South Berwick, York, Maine, on 8 May 1830 to Samuel Goodwin and Nancy Harvey.
I believe that the Joseph Viles shown with wife Sarah, daughter Aura and son Steven is the same Joseph, although I can't prove it. I found a birth record for a daughter born on 5 Sep 1873 to J. B. Viles and his wife Sarah in Rockport, Massachusetts. Some online trees show that Arabella and Sarah are the same person, but I don't believe that to be correct. In 1900, Sarah and Joseph said they had been married for 28 years, and Sarah said she had had 5 children, whereas Joseph started having children with Arabella in 1849, and they had at least 7 children, if you don't include Steven.

* Who were Arabella S. Savage's parents?
* Is there a marriage record for Joseph B. Viles and Sarah Goodwin? (She probably had a previous marriage, as I can only find one child with Joseph.)
* Is there a birth or death record for Steven B. Viles, b. ca. 1866 Maine?
