Neil Hector McCormick (1847-1894) in Montana or Colorado

Question

Neil Hector McCormick was born 1847 in Lochiel Ontario. He went to Montana around 1880. He died of Rocky Mountain spotted fever in 1894 per family oral history. Cannot find him on any searches. Can anyone suggest anything to help? One of my cousins thought he ended up in Colorado at one point. He was my great-grandfather and the namesake of my father Neil Hector McCormick(1912-2004).
