Am going to repeat this question but have never found out what happened to this man.  He was last on the 1871 Census in UK but after that seems to disappear.

Please if you have a Thomas Smith born in Shetland,  let me know so we ca compare notes.

No, this does not agree.  In the 1871  census he was in Shetland but then disappears.

Unsure but it looks similar.  Have the original census as:

Cannot see the 1900??  Sorry no idea when he died or WHERE!  That is what I am looking for - WHERE was he after 1871 & did he marry & have children and WHEN was his death.  Anything about him after the 1871 census would be a bonus.
Year of death, (1900), you have entered in his profile!
Sorry the 1900 year is just my guesstimate - in other words just a guess by me.  No idea when he died
