OMG (to use a phrase I seldom use)! My Dad always said, and was 95% sure, that we are directly related to Ste. Theresa, the Little Flower!! His family came from France in the mid-1600's from the very same place Ste. Theresa was born. One of her father's name, or her grandfather's? name, was Stanislas - my father's middle name; but the name he was always know by, Stanley, Stan. The French, and the French in Canada, were named after their father; hence, my Dad's full name: Joseph Stanislaus (Stanley) Martin. I have been attempting to follow-through on our likely relationship to this family, with little success. Perhaps, it is being kept 'private', at least, that is my suspicion. There was a painting of Ste. Theresa in the back of our Church in Bridgeport, CT. One Sunday, perhaps a Church Holiday?, I had to wait in a long line to leave Church, and I studied this painting. Went home, and said to my Dad, "I swear, Ste. Theresa resembles many in our family." That is when he told me of his belief, and that he would love to know the history of his family's ancestry, especially in France.
Perhaps, we are related through Ste. Theresa's family? I will continue to search ...
Sincerely,
Jeannette (Martin-Brideau) Saladino
