Imported pictures from GEDcom

After importing a tree, I get references to  images that were in the source items, such as:

File Format: jpg. 194543 PARENTRIN MH:P500049. PERSONALPHOTO Y. Format: jpg. 219700 Leo PRIM_CUTOUT Y. PARENTPHOTO Y. Position: 93 0 1004 1214. Format: jpg. 57848 Merle.Leo.wedding Position: 193 20 261 110.

But the images are not there. Am I right in assuming that GED files have the references to the original image, but has not imported them?

Should I go through each member's profile and delete these references, and then upload the images again for each member?

GED files may have the references but generally don't contain the images. They are just a text file and can be edited with any text editor.

You'll have to add images individually as far as I can tell. :(

As said, Gedcom files are text only. I think version 5.5 allowed embedded media, but this stops the text only editing. V5.5.1, latest but unofficial version, allows the media to be kept in related folders, and everything zipped for transport.

Unfortunately, zipped files are not good on the Web and Wikis, not only for security reasons, but also because items on the Web and in Wikis should be individually addressable with Web compatible addresses (URLs) so that they are easily addressed and discoverable.

So no easy effortless path. Chris Little-4631
