Do you have this census record?

"United States Census, 1930", database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XM69-X5X : accessed 10 April 2016), Elizabeth Paine, 1930

It shows Mary had a daughter who was born in Ohio.

Thank you! Yes,Mary Payne(Paine)Berhalter had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Berhalter Colvin (1903-1965)and two sons,Jacob Berhalter(1893-1930) Charles Louis Berhalter (1886-1930) Charles was my grandfather, and John Howard Berhalter (1919-2003)is my father.John Howard was named after John Howard Payne! I come to dead ends searching for Paynes(Paine's) Thank you!
Many records were lost in a flood years ago and some records printed about my family on the internet is wrong information.l remember my father sent for his birth certificate and another man's information was on it. Northern Kentucky had my grandfather married to his sister. Maybe in some Kentucky familys, but not mine! Thank you!

I don't know if you can see that but Mary Colvin's obituary says she has the two brothers and three sisters.
The obituary is a mistake! Mary Berhalter Colvin only had two brothers Charles Louis and Jacob Berhalter! I spoke with Mary's only son,Lew Colvin,Jr.this week! Thank you,so much for your time! Too much misinformation!
i don't think it is a mistake.

I don't know if you can see that.  I think newspapers.com  has a trial  membership.  It says Carson Berhalter and his son-in-law were clubbed to death.  Carson (I am assuming is Conrad) is a tailor and George Mercer was a traveling salesman.
I just read Mary Berhalter Colvin's obituary! It is a mess! What is listed as her brothers and sisters, are actually her nieces and nephews and except for my father and his brother, the names are wrong!
Yes,Conrad Berhalter and his son-in-law, George Mercer were murdered in July 1924,along the Ohio River,at Christ Church Cathedral's church camp! Conrad's neighbor later confessed, during the great Ohio State Penitentiary Fire of 1930,in which many lost their lives, including Conrad's neighbor and Conrad's son,Jake! By the way,George and Conrad were murdered over one dollar!
It sounded very violent.   but if Conrad had a son-in-law, he had to have a daughter who had been married to George Mercer.
Yes,that was Mary Elizabeth Berhalter Mercer Colvin, his only daughter! I completely forgot about George Mercer! Also,l believe Mary had a daughter pass away, about in the eighth grade,l am not sure, though!
I believe my great-great grandfather, Samuel Paine might be listed as born both 1933 and 1935.His wife,Harriet Nichols Paine(Payne}was born in Randolph,Massachusetts.l believe Samuel might have been born in Turo,Barnstable,Massachusetts! They also had a son,Charles S.Paine who passed away at 1year,5 months, and 21days,two months after his mother's,Harriet's passing!
My mistake,Samuel Paine born between 1833 and 1835! I apologize!
I knew what you meant.
I'm researching Lydia (Tisdale) Paine, Payne-6144.  She was bapt. in 1749 in Lebanon, CT,  married John Payne/Pain, and moved 1st to Hartford, VT and 2nd to Nova Scotia.  Her daughter Sophia married my ancestor James Gould in 1791.  I am proving James as a "patriot" for DAR. -- but no luck so far finding where Sophia was baptized.
There is quite a lot about her sister Auriela.  [[Payne-3548]]   Maybe there would be clues in there.
Kurt, have you discovered any siblings of Jacob Berhalter, Conrad's father.  Specifically is Joseph Berhalter b.1829 of Elmira a brother?  Do you know his parents?  Thanks Carl

I am going to start profiles for these people.  That way we can add information as it comes along.

Edit:

"United States Census, 1880," database with images, FamilySearch(https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MZZZ-T64 : accessed 11 April 2016), Samuel Paine, Elmira, Chemung, New York, United States; citing enumeration district ED 74, sheet 348A, NARA microfilm publication T9 (Washington D.C.: National Archives and Records Administration, n.d.), roll 0817; FHL microfilm 1,254,817.

It looks like this could be your family.  What do you think?

I think you are a miracle worker! I don't know how to thank you enough! It makes me laugh that my great-great grandfather,Samuel Paine made the shoes, and my great-great grandfather, Jacob Berhalter tailored the clothes in,Elmira,New York and that's how their kids got together! I find this so humorous!                 Thank you, again,

                                                                  Kurt Jack Berhalter
that's a fun fact
I had no idea when l started this search, l would be able to trace my ancestors to the Mayflower, and l believe the ship,Anne. After you discovered, Samuel Paine,it became easy to trace my ancestors back to my 12th grandmother, Constance Hopkins Snow and 13th grandfather, Stephen Hopkins! I can never thank you enough,Maureen and l traced them so quick, thank you, again!                  Sincerely,

                                                                           Kurt Jack Berhalter
