Davises in/around Essex County, MA in late 1800s

+6 votes
My grandfather died with the name William Peabody Davis in Boston, MA in 1936.  That was not, apparently his birth name, although his father was probably named Davis.  His Mother was Minerva McNutt, born 1857, in Truro, Nova Scotia.  A Minerva Mcnutt married Hugh Davis in Boston in 1875.  They got a divorce in New Hampshire in, I believe, 1906. I cannot find records for any children born to this couple.  They also may have had a daughter named Alice.  My father, born in 1909, was Parker Byron Davis.  His two sisters were Ruth and Doris.

Any help would be appreciated.

By looking at this ...is it possible that Minerva McNutt was not his mother but his father took him into another marriage.   Just a thought.

I have a 3rd cousins wife..she is from the McNutt family which got changed to Nutt at some stage.

hope this helps
